A side bar conversation by some has been the popular "mystique" of Nabokov and how that effects things pro and con.   Someone just brought to my attention that the Zimmer story was the most emailed story of the day at NYTIMES.com (see below).   Historically, also, this has had a sometimes negative effect on his science being looked at seriously.
