Tokyo Gov. Shintaro Ishihara (Mainichi)
In defense of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's recent move to tighten restrictions on graphic sexual content in manga and anime, Tokyo Gov. Shintaro Ishihara has said the conclusions he made in a 1972 book about sex education were wrong.
"I was wrong back then," Ishihara said during a regular press conference held on Dec. 17, referring to a passage in his book "Shinjitsu no Sei-kyoiku" (The True Sex Education), in which he claimed that "no book can motivate children to commit a crime or turn to juvenile delinquency."
