I join Sergey in memorializing the passing of  Martin Gardner with whom I had a brief exchange of letters about VN's novel Look at the Harlequins and Gardner's The Ambidextrous Universe: Left, Right and the Fall of Parity. Gardner's  work also figures in Pale Fire and in Ada.  See my essay "The Ambidextrous Universe of Look at the Harlequins, pp. 170-184) in Worlds in Regression.
