Dear Carolyn,
See Brian Boyd’s Introduction to SPEAK, MEMORY in the 1999
Everyman’s Library edition, and “Nabokov and Herzen” by yours truly in NABOKOVIAN
#53, Fall 2004. And pardon my correcting this, but DRUGIE BEREGA is not the
original title of VN’s memoir (it is the title of VN’s own Russian translation
of CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE).
Best,
Sergey Karpukhin

To the Russians & Russophiles on the List,
The above reminds me of a question - - has anyone speculated on the original
title of VN's autobiography, Drugie Berega? Could it have anything to do
with Herzen?
Carolyn
