Dictionary.com's Word of the Day for September 15 was "riparian"; one
of the examples of its use is from a VN interview:
Arial[What about
your social circle?] "A steady stream of brilliant American
intellectuals visiting me in the
riparian
solitude of a beautifully reflected sunset."
-- Vladimir Nabokov, "Nabokov on Nabokov and Things",
0000,0000,FFFFNew
York Times, May 12,
1968
The interview, of course, appeared not in the New York Times, but in
the New York Times Book Review, and is one of those reprinted in
Strong Opinions.

which stands at the cradle of true art and true science." - Albert
