Until this week I had
never heard of von Lichberg/von Eschwege. Copies of "Die verfluchte
Gioconda" appear to be extremely rare. As far as I can see, there is one
copy in a university library in my home state. I will try to get hold of
it, but with all the excitement here (even the dullest provincial papers have
given the story some prominence) over the discovery I'm skeptical whether the
volume will still be on the shelves come Monday, it hasn't been checked out yet
... Maar hasn't convinced me yet, but maybe his forthcoming (longer) TLS
article will ...
