Subject: Re: Fw: The original of Dorotea
A footnote to Sebastiano del Piombo's portrait of a
young woman (Dorotea). It is still at the Gemaeldegalerie in Berlin, but a few
years ago this one moved from the suburb of Dahlem where it was housed as long
as Berlin was divided to the more central Kulturforum. Hence "Berlin-Dahlem"
would have to be changed to simply "Berlin". Nabokov will have seen the painting
in this collection. Its title there is "Dorothea (1512)". By the way, Sebastiano
figures in Giorgio Vasari as "Sebastiano Viniziano".
