was involved in a virtual pedophilic scandal whose subject was Shirley

Miss L (!!) when he wrote a review of "Captain January" which he found
to be "a little depraved," and of whose star he further wrote "some of
her popularity seems to rest on a coquetry quite as mature as Miss
Colbert's, and an oddly precocious body as voluptuous in grey flannel
trousers as Miss Dietrich's."
