EDITORIAL NOTE. Anoother response to Dieter Zimmer's query.
Not really an answer to the query, but I can recall Wilson's wild
enthusiasm for the macabre fantasies of Gorey. His New Yorker essay is
what saddled us forever (it seems) with the tired and tiring Victorian
pastiches of this much overrated draughtsman.
