Subject
AMY TAN on LOLITA (fwd)

From: Neil Spence <nspence@pyrimage.com>
I can't recall it being mentioned here before, and it may interest
NABOKOV-L subscribers to know, that in the September 30, 1996 edition
of Salon magazine, in a feature where a hodge-podge of writers speak
of influential books in their lives, writer Amy Tan names Lolita as
her "personal best" (the unfortunate name of the feature). Tan refers
to Appel's annotated edition as an "an endlessly entertaining literary
companion".
Her comments can be found at
http://www.salonmagazine.com/weekly/tan960930.html. Forgive me if this
has already been brought to the attention of the ng.
