In my article on N's "The Assistant Producer" in the special issue of
Russian Lit. Triquarterly (#24), I suggested that the story's title may
come from Fitzgerald's THE LAST TYCOON, and discuss the Fitzgerald connection a bit. (The
posthumous novel had been edited by Wilson and had recently appeared.)
