The rock band Cracker has a reference to Lolita in their song "I ride my
bike" during a long sort of narrated part in the middle of the tune, where
the singer describes the object of his amour lying on a deck chair, "with
a pair of Mickey Mouse sunglasses... looking just like Lolita." The
songwriter, David Lowery, is a big fan of former VVN student Thomas
Pynchon (hope that's the right one -- my memory is almost the opposite of
you-know-who).

a whole genus, is the mirror into which we must look if we are to
behold ourselves from the proper standpoint." -- Montaigne
