Jeremy Irons on Charlie Rose Show (fwd)

Jeremy Irons was seen on some PBS stations late last night (it may have
been a re-run) discussing, among other things, Lyne's film and his role in
it. He described HH as "a lonely emigre who comes to the States after his
wife died, and whose greatest love affair was when he was very young
with a 14-year old girl. So he is lonely, and vulnerable, and then he
meets Lolita, and she sort of seduces him -- but, oh well, it is true, he
sort of allows her to seduce him" (fairly verbatim).
They also showed a couple of scenes from the movie. The interview was not
just on Lolita, it was quite wide-ranging, including, for example, his and
his wife's views on the Labor government and Tony Blair. If people want to
obtain a tape or transcript, I am sure it can be done fairly easily
through whatever station airs the Charlie Rose show in your area.
