It is rather surprising to find Dr. Boyd confusing Baconians (at whose
pseudo-scientific methods VN pokes fun in BEND SINISTER) and
anti-Stratfordians, with whom VN, if his early poems are anything to go
by, had at least some kinship. There is a world of difference between
maintaining that Bacon wrote the plays, for which there is no evidence,
and suggesting that Will Shakspere of Stratford did not write them, for
which there is plenty of evidence, if only Dr. Boyd (and others, for
that matter) had some spare time to look into the subject.
