That article about postmodernism appeared on the New York Times Editorial
page a while back, maybe as much as two months ago. The writer is Mark
Leyner, a fiction-writer. The Man with Bandana is thought to be David
Foster Wallace, also a fiction-writer, or at least a reference to his
work. Wallace is the author of a long essay on postmodern fiction,
television, and the need to get beyond irony that took Leyner to task for
all the things he has his character Alex embrace in the NYT article.
