*** Actually, this list *is* edited, otherwise neither Don nor I would
have been necessary. One can set up a forum list without editors or
moderators. I think it was Don's decision -- with which I fully agree --
when he set up this list that it is going to be "edited"/"moderated."
Unless we want to switch to the unmoderated list -- which, from my mail,
at least, it appears that people do not want to do -- editors/moderators
will likely continue to exercise their judgment (which some of you may
find faulty) as to the direction of the discussions. GD**

"Editors?" I did not know that this list was _edited_.
I have always considered this "forum" a discussion club of sorts,
thus very tolerant as concerns the format, possible divagations, adjacent
or even whimsical topics, the route and the length of a thread (and typos
in the accusative). Even in a thematic club any reasonable topic should be
allowed to be discussed, and the discussion, to run its course. The latest
thread is much closer to the main theme (and to me, much more interesting)
than the interminable mentions of VN's being mentioned in secondary
literature.
You should see what topics are discussed by chessplayers at the
(enormous) internet chess club in which I sometimes play!
But one can trash an unwanted subject in a two-stroke, on arrival.
