I have been working on translating _Transparent Things_ into Japanese .
It will be published in 1999, at the latest. This is not my project, but I
hear that a Vladimir Nabokov Society in Japan (the name is temporary) is
going to be founded. In Japan, VN has been studied either as a Russian
writer or an American writer, and there is no place for both the scholars
of Russian and those of English to gather and discuss VN. I look forward
to it, but I am not sure of its DOB. It may be also in 1999? If you know
some Japanese VN s cholars, you may have already heard about it.
