Does anyone know if Nabokov ever expressed an opinion about Gunther Grass'
novels?
I have been reading THE TIN DRUM, and am pleasantly surprised by its
Nabokovian/Joycean character. I had always assumed that it was a dreary
political-fantasy novel for some reason.
My 1963 paperback edition even includes Newsweek's comparison of TD to
PALE
FIRE.
Did VN go for GG?
