I would like to thank Mr. Schiff for responding so promptly to my rather
inarticulate question. I agree that the film I half-heartedly described
may not be one I would want to see either. It's just that somehow I had
the feeling that Lolita just may not work on the screen as realism. The
mother scene I mentioned came, as I remember it from reading Nabokov's
script years ago, directly from Nabokov. Mr. Schiff is the filmaker,
not I.
I wonder what in the hell scared Murray so badly.
