Subject
Nabokov on NPR (fwd)

Body
I'm working on developing several story ideas for NPR in this centennary year
of Nabokov's birthday.
One suggestion is that TALK OF THE NATION do a Book Club hour on a Nabokov
novel. Given VV's complexities and certain controversial subjects, I suggested
to the producer that either PNIN or SPEAK, MEMORY!, might be a good
introduction to Nabokov's oeuvre.
I also suggested that our Berlin Bureau Chief attend the "Dear Bunny" show and
cover that story as well as interview Dmitri Nabokov. I'll also work with the
Moscow Bureau to cover some Nabokov activities over there.
I have pull with our Moscow Bureau and would appreciate interesting "human
interest stories" (pace VV) that could perk interest in Nabokov at NPR.
Also, isn't 1959 the 40th anniversary of Nabokov's departure from Cornell for
the full-time literary life in Europe?
