Correction to my previous: The verb "perestarit'sia" (to grow very old)
does exist, I've found it in Dal's dictionary, and so the passive
participle "perestarivshiisia" is theoretically possible - my apologies to
Mr Ilyichev. This does not change the fact, however, that Nabokov has a
completely different word in his story.
