EDITOR's NOTE. Not much has been done with the topic of names in VN's
fiction. I ran across the reference (below) to a journal that might
yield some ideas for research in the area. Anyone who tackles the topic
should obviously know Russian, French, and german.
Such a project will be enormously facilitated with the long-awaited
publication of Christine Rydel's reference volume _Who's Who is VN__ to
be put out by Ardis Publishers.

There is a journal, which I haven't seen, called _Literary Onomastics
Studies_ (ISSN 0160-8703), published since 1974 at State University of
New York--Brockport. A selection of articles was reprinted from that
journal under the title _Names in Literature: Essays from Literary
Onomastics Studies_, ed. Grace Alvarez-Altman and Frederick M. Burelbach
(Lanham, MD: University Press of America, 1987). The journal is
probably worth exploring in this context.
