l L. Bruce Lincoln's description of the decoration of Moscow for the
coronation of Czar Nicholas II in May, 1896 in BETWEEN HEAVEN AND HELL (a
history of artistic life in Russia) sounds remarkably like the
pre-beheading festivities of INVITATION TO A BEHEADING: breathtaking and
colossal electrical illumination,
dual monograms ("N" and "A" for Nicholas and Aleksandra, "P" and "C" for
Pierre and Cincinnatus).
Pages 381-388 of this book contain a discussion of VN in a chapter entitled
__Emigres Against Utopia.
