The other day I heard Terry Gross on NPR's "Fresh Air" interviewing a poet
named Billy Collins, a sort of ironic postmodern Robert Frost, although with a
less well-defined geographical niche. "Picnic, Lightning" is the title of his
latest book. I missed the first ten minutes of the show, but didn't hear any
discussion of the title or its origin. Did anyone else? I wonder if poets
among us know about Collins, and why he saw fit to employ, not to say purloin,
this particular phrase.
Thanks
