Japanese journals may not be the first thing that come to mind when
thinking about Nabokov. The recent formation of the Japanese Nabokov
Society suggests that there is much to take note of. NABOKV-L has recently
noted several Japanese contributions to the field. Akiko Nakata has kindly
obtained for NABOKV-L three articles by an Anglo Nabokovian who
teaches in Japan --- Brian T. Quinn.

1. "Memory and Reality in Nabokov's World" in _Kyushu American Literature
#30 (1989), pp. 1-6.

2. "Aspects of Nabokov's Transition to English Prose in _The Real Life of
Sebastian Knight," in _Studies in English Language and Literature, #40
(1990), pp. 83-100.

3. And in the same journal, #39 (1989), pp. 85-110. "The Occurence
[sic] of French Idiomatic Phrases in Nabokov's _Lolita_."
--------------------
The first two items are of a more or less "introductory" nature while the
third is quite informative. Quinn catalogues, categorizes, and comments on
ALL of the French words and phrases in LO (some 220).
