It seemed to me that in 6:III of Evgenii Onegin when Tatiana says "Ia ne
ropshchu: zachem roptat'" this might be an allusion to Heine's "Ich
grolle
nicht," but neither Lotman nor Nabokov mention it. Am I off base
here?
Heine's text:
Ich grolle nicht, und wenn das Herz auch bricht,
Ewig verlornes Lieb! ich grolle nicht.
Wie du auch strahlst in Diamantenpracht,
Es fдllt kein Strahl in deines Herzens Nacht.
Das weiЯ ich lдngst. Ich sah dich ja im Traum,
und sah die Nacht in deines Herzens Raum,

year-old Nabokov translated Heine's "I grolle nicht.." into Russian.
