This is an extremely interesting piece based on archival information
(NYPL) that sheds light on the background of different aspects of the
novel. That bearing on the "social message" includes an invitation for
VN to address a Browning club meeting on German culture, his response,
and much else including the philosophy of Grigorii Landau. That dealing
with the philosophy of time discusses VN's fascination with the
writings of J.W. Dunne whose _An Experiment with Time_ is alluded to in
ADA. Grishakova also finds a later Dunne book_The Serial Universe_
relevant to Bend Sinister.
