When I was in the first quarter of my post MA doctoral
work, hesitating between Comp Lit and Linguistics a veddy distinguished
professor of LITERATURE told me, "Rea, learn the languages. Then you
can read the literature for yourself." I took his advice, did
the LIN, and have been reading ever since!
