To the best of my knowledge, nobody has been able to identify said portrait. In his definitive book on Kubrick, French critic Michel Ciment describes the picture as "Gainsborough like," which is accurate enough. I get the feeling that if the painting were at all identifiable, the tireless Ciment would be the one to do it. I will check some other sources that are not in my office, but my suspicion is that the painting is some anonymour work snatched from a prop department.
