I do agree with Kurt Johnson that the window theme deserves the reader's
attention. Correct me if I wrong, but the purpose of the window-like
spots
on the moth's wings has not been pinned down (at least that's what some
web-sources allege). Again, as in the case with the moth's habitat, one
is
naturally tempted to draw a parallel or two with VN's larger themes,
attach some significance to this particular detail, which is really more
of the story's leitmotif.
But one thing is absolutely certain: one is genuinely grateful to the
lepidopterists who have immensely enriched mortals' appreciation of VN's
art.
