Thanks for passing on the story of Mr. Sirin from "The Hostile Hospital."
Now that I've read the book (and loved it), I can point out that a certain
Cynthia Vane also makes an appearance. She's one of a number of literary
characters receiving poor treatment at the dreadful Heimlich Hospital.
Cynthia has been hospitalized for a toothache -- I invite Nabokovians to
speculate about why Snicket chose this particular malaise for her.
