I heartily approve Galya Diment's sensitive and objective analysis of my
father's attitude toward Dostoievski.
In this matter and in many others, including the Freudian one, too many
half-informed people have been going off half-cocked.
I take this opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of another Galya
(Korovina) : her impartial and delicate report on the death of Zinaida
Shakhovskoy. Any death is sad. I would have felt even sadder about hers if
she had behaved differently towards my parents.
Greetings to all,
DN
