In 1959 V.V. Vinogradov, the author of a comprehensive study _Iazyk
Pushkina: Pushkin i istoriia russkogo literaturnogo iazyka_ quoted Nabokov's
comments on the origins of Pushkin's "Tak ispravliaetsia nash vek" and
"Perekrakhmelennyi nakhal" in his essay "Iazyk khudozhestvennogo
proizvedeniia" (see: Vinogradov, V.V. _O iazyke khudozhestvennoi
