Sorry if this is a duplicate -- I was not sure whether it made it to the

I was dreadfully sorry to hear of Natalya Tolstoy's death, especially
in such dismal circumstances. She was indeed remarkable, and her
integrity was exemplary. The correspondence with her was long a source of
joy for my mother, and her devotion to my father's works was a joy for us
both. Her mention that all proceeds from a book of VN poetry she edited
were to go to a worthy cause was a noble example amid today's
publishing jungle. It is such people as she that give one hope for the
future of Russia.
Dmitri Nabokov
Mr. Thacker deserves a good thwacking for calling VN's attitude
"asinine." I still treasure a book of Rilke poems my father brought me,
highly recommending them.
