Subject: This week's New Republic
Dear Don,
This week's New Republic has a lengthy article on translation, ostensibly a
review of some new translations into english of Proust's
Whichever-you-call-it. Because it is so long I'm sending two excerpts as
Word documents. The first is devoted exclusively to Nabokov as a translator,
the second which reviews the new translations only mentions him a few times
(I've marked those in bold). I didn't include the first part which is a
general discussion of translation.
