This "Emery" reminded me of a mumbled "every" when I read this, perhaps
intended to underline the banality of this character. This seems to be
borne out by his other traits: his clumsiness. his apparent obtuseness...



On a different subject: what does one make of HP's meal of "homard a
l'americaine" ?

Random googling returned an article about lobster being the staple food in
some 19th century New England prisons. Interesting !
