Further on Trux and Chur: I only present this, by the way, and
don't intend to "explain":
The Trux for Montreux N has used before in ADA. I believe it is
there that he says something like "Must trux..." and refers to
the noise of trucks. We're here in what I have called
Nabokov's Third World (after Russia and America)
Chur is also in ADA, and Van's wild ride from the Grisons back to
meet Ada goes through there. Let's always keep in mind that, as
someone else has hinted, Switzerland has four languages. The
Romantsch spoken arout Chur is called, deprecatingly,
"Churwelsch". The earlier comment on a something working better
in German that French can be turned around here: The French
name of "Chur" is, in fact, "Coire": and I tend to believe
that Nabokiv new this.
There doesn't seem to be a Majestic hotel in the neighborhood, bur
Chur does have both a "Ko"nig" and a "Kr"one" hotel (shove those
umlauts back ove the preceding vowel) which swings with the former
manager. There are Ascot hotels in Zurich and Basle.
"Hullo Person" appears again at 30.05
Armande has appeared here, and we must expect Nabokv to play
variations with her name, as with others. Note Dream-man on
60.20, and Armand Rave at 13.15.
