[Stan Kelly-Bootle responds to Jansy's remark (that the "p" in "Pnin"
should be ash-gray) and to my quoting VN's tips on pronouncing this
surname like "Up, Nina!" See Victor Fet's emails, just posted, for a
partial response to Stan's question below about the frequency of the

VN spells his 'rainbow' kzspygv which he says is 'hardly pronounceble'
Taken 'literally' kzspygv would not challenge Iwonka, ma Polonaise!
She would use the old joke: it's pronounced exactly like the 'kzspygv'
in
'kzspygvszkramkiewic'
NOTE: some of the Caucasian isolates have consonants requiring lateral
movements of the uvula -- almost as difficult as the Afric 'click'
languages.
SES: thanks for THE answer. But am I correct that the initial 'pn' pair
is
rare in Russian, compared with pairs such as 'dm' and 'vl'?
