Dear Jerry Katsell and List,
Following to my previous message of today regarding the touching
interest of many loyal Nabokovians in creating a VN commemorative
postage stamp, I have the following doubt: this new initiative will open
the floodgates not only to those with a worthy candidate to promote,
but, if I understand correctly, to the proposals of anybody with a baby
or a wedding to celebrate and to every crackpot or poshliak with $31.98
in his pocket. Does one want Nabokov to be plunged into such an
undiscriminating free-for-all?
