"Nobody reads Fulmerford anymore."

Dear Sergei,
Interesting that you brought up Arabic poetry. A
slight correction: the hijaa' (the apostrophe is a
glottal stop), variously described as vituperative
verse, lampoon, opprobious, satirical poetry, is
actually pre-islamic and extends to the medieval times
and even beyond: originally, the poet of one tribe,
its prestigious representative, would extoll his own
tribe and vituperate another tribe; contests were held
between poets of various tribes, a logomachy instead
of a real war.
