THOUGHTS: "Obtain" as stuffy academic discourse in PF

As a biologist, the use of the term "obtain" in this context has indeed
always struck me as probably directly lifted from the stuffier type of
paper on biogeography or ecology. If I find more direct examples of this
usage of the term I'll be back to the list.
