Ostrova moey pamyati ("The Islands of my Memory"), by L. N. Shtern: http://www.pchela.ru/podshiv/28_29/ostrova.htm. I post the reference to this article in Russian because it mentions Monsieur Loustalot who gave VN boxing and fencing lessons (see Speak, Memory, p. 141). Btw., my first published article (in collaboration with D. B. Johnson) was on Loustalot ("Skeletons in the Closet," by A. Sklepikov, in Zembla). Another reason why this memoir has a special appeal for me is because I live not far from the Ostrova (the park area in St. Petersburg decribed by the author).
