An Nabokov item by the late Marianne Shapiro that should be brought to the attention of VN scholars. Since it appears in a posthumus collection of her writings mostly devoted to Italian literature, it is likely to be missed by Nabokophiles: "From the Critic's Workbench: Essays in Literature and Semiotics"; Compliled and edited by Michael Shapiro. Peter Lang: NY, 2005.
Before her untimely death the author had compiled extensive notes for a study of Nabokov's Lolita and Pnin. The notes and outlines run some eighty pages (pp. 349-434) and will be of interest to Nabokov scholars.
