See attachment for the original of this little poem (I'm not really a poet and couldn't come up with anything better than these lines as a birthday present).
The pale fire of Spring! It is not allowed
to play with it, burning transparently.
The hero's suicide is postponed
till October 19.
Back to the ancients, I notice that there is a hazelhen in Aristophanes' play "The Birds".
