Jansy: purely for research, I bought a copy of the English-version of a Japanese magazine called GOTHIC-LOLITA. The pictures and cartoons were relatively innocent and hardly aimed at perverted adults. The ads and letters pages indicated a lively international readership with many
Gothic-Lolita clubs dressing up for fun, especially in Japan and USA. The general image was
a teen-aged girl dressing up as an impossibly frilly, exotic 10-12-year-old. The Lolita connection,
as you hint, is quite problematical. I think it's clear that VN's HH was NOT attracted by older
girls dolled up as younger bait! The true nymphet needed no accessorizing?
My research continues ...
