ABSTRACT: LIFE AND LETTERS consisting of excerpts from correspondence sent by Vladimir Nabokov to his wife, Véra, in the fall of 1942 as he toured the United States giving lectures. The tour included stops at Coker College, in Hartsville, South Carolina; at Spelman College, in Atlanta, Georgia; at the Georgia State Womans College, in Valdosta; in Springfield, Illinois; and at Macalester College, in St. Paul, Minnesota.
